A Word About Regular Posts
So, you guys...
LIFE!
Working 30 hrs a week, tax season, teaching two yoga classes and considering picking up a 3rd, regular housework on top of caring for this marvelous 3 month old little man. Laundry takes over a week to get folded. Dishes go out and right back into the dishwasher.
I would love to post regularly, but for real though, that ish aint gonna happen.
Before I went back to work, weekly workout posts could happen during naps and nightly dad/dude time, but seriously... two weeks ago I tried to swing a "day in the life" post... couldn't even make that happen. The logistics were too much - getting stuff done while keeping track of what I was doing and when I was doing it is so much easier then you spend half the day sitting on you're butt nursing.
ANYWAYSSSSS,
This is not goodbye. I'm going to continue to do my best to post every now and then, but the reality is that I will not be posting very often. I miss the blog life. Hopefully I'll be able to fill y'all in on the state of things soon. :)

Revisiting Happiness
![]() |
Photo snagged from Design Stitch Go's Instagram |
It's been 11 months since I wrote about happiness and linked up with some of my very first blogger friends. On my drive into work this morning I got to thinking about this one general sentiment that's been following me around a bit lately.
People post quotes on Instagram and Pinterest and Facebook all the time, and because there are so so many of them, usually they just go in one ear and out the other for me.
But this one is sticking. I'm not sure if that's because it's something I needed to be reminded of, or something I'm noticing about others.

Buttons!
I've had a blog for a long time. Since they days of livejournal, I've been posting random whatsits on the interwebs, but I just recently started exploring the blogging community and making friends.
I'm pretty excited about that. I've gotten in contact with some truly amazing and inspiring bloggers. So, I've decided to start button swapping (for freeeeee).
Christie over at bedsidesign made me this lovely button to match my blog. She's super sweet and I'm so thankful that she offered to do this for me!
Hopefully soon I'll be able to add some more button options so, if you want to swap, you'll have your choice.
If you think you might be interested, email me at calyssajean (at) gmail (dot) com or leave me a comment!
In the meantime, I'm just going to grab some buttons from blogs that have been inspiring me lately. Check them out. Seriously. They're pretty great.

Mini Rant; Why Emoticons Are Good
I recently read a blog by someone who said they don't believe in emoticons. Something about the English language having enough illustrative capacity. Blah blah blah. At first I thought she was kind of right, but can I just say really quickly that after thinking about this a little bit, I've decided that this is bunk. As a student of communication I know how important non-verbals are. If you can't here the tone in my voice or see my expression or posture, how will you know my full meaning? I have therefore decided to continue the use of emoticons because that little winky face will help you to better understand me. If I wouldn't say to your face, "This is meant in a joking manner", then I sure as sh*t am not going to type it out for you. Figure it out with my emoticons, dammit.
Have a nice day.

The Return of Me
Not so very long ago there was a blog. It was mildly interesting, containing mostly boring tidbits about my life and, when I had time to update it, things I was doing, books I was reading, etc.
And then, just as escrow was about to close on my totally awesome (getting-better-by-the-day) house, my email got HACKED! So, I saved what I needed and deleted that baby.
I was sad to see it - and all that was connected to it - go, but I am excited to start anew. My hope is that now I will actually have enough time to keep it adequately updated while not neglecting any of the important things in life.
Lots has been happening, so here's to hoping I have time to get it all written about.
